Shirley Cecelia Perkins

Shirley Cecelia (Durfee) Perkins, age 83, passed away on Monday, March 28, 2016 at her home in West Branch, MI surrounded by her family. She lived in West Branch for most of her life. Shirley was born on October 27, 1932 in Bay City, MI. She married Kenneth Perkins in West Branch on June 10, 1950. Shirley was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she was a Eucharistic Minister and a Funeral Dinner Chairman. She enjoyed sewing, her pool, snowmobiling, and her grandchildren. She lived a life full of family and friends. Her faith was her guiding light and her house was always open.

Shirley is survived by her children, Vickie (Greg) Morris, Peggy (Pete) Winter, Judy (Dan) Winter, and Kathleen (Kelly) Sawyer; sister, Pat (Curt) Beasley-Groh; brother, Michael (Rose) Beasley, grandchildren, Courtney (Eric Wangler) Winter, Bob (Jenny) Winter, Jack (Randee) Morris, Kyle (John Boc) Sawyer, Kori Sawyer, Alex (Brittany Owens) Winter, Adam (Shey Nelson) Winter, and Zach Beasley; great grandchildren, Lane Winter, Liv Winter, Kendel Morris, and Kaydence Beasley; nephews, Michael (Mwavisu) Beasley, Christopher (Marie) Beasley, Eric (Meaghan) Beasley, Patrick Beasley, Jeff Durfee, and Jimmy Jay Durfee; nieces, Shelly Glanton, Sharon (Gary) Jameson, Sharlene (Mike) Suvada, Lisa Hoggard, and Misty (Kurt) Filsinger; and special friends, Christine & Tony Buckett and family, and Burt & Phyllis Morris. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Kenneth Perkins; brothers, Edmund “Bud” Durfee and Jim Durfee; sister in law, Carol Durfee; mother, Bernice (Durfee) Beasley; stepfather, Harry Beasley; and nephew, Edmund Durfee.

Visitation at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. On Wednesday March 30, 2016, Shirley will lie in state at St. Joseph Catholic Church beginning at 11:00 a.m. until the Celebration of Life Mass at 12:00 p.m. Father Patrick Maher will officiate.
