William E. "Bill" Blamer

June 27, 1953 — September 3, 2012

William E. “Bill” Blamer, age 59, passed away Monday, September 3, 2012 at his home. Bill had lived in St. Helen for the past 34 years, formerly of Grand Blanc. He was a teacher at St. Helen Elementary School and the Roscommon Middle School for over 30 years, also serving as the middle school track coach in Roscommon. Bill received his undergraduate degree from Michigan State University, his teaching certification from The University of Michigan and his Masters Degree through Central Michigan University. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and enjoyed walking, hiking, reading, traveling and being outdoors. He also was very involved in the Boy Scouts for over 20 years. Bill is survived by his wife Theresa Blamer of St. Helen and his daughters, Megan (Robert) Harris of Boyne City and Emily (LaQuan) Pittman of Dixon, IL. Also surviving is his father William C. Blamer of Flint, his sister Claudia Blamer of Fenton and his brothers, Robert (Carrie) Blamer of Whitmore Lake and Richard (Charlene) Blamer of Chargin Falls, OH. He was preceded in death by his mother Bernice Filer Blamer and his aunt and uncle May and Don Lance. Visitation at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in St. Helen will begin on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 from 6-9 p.m. and on Thursday from 4-9 p.m. with a Scripture Service at 7:30 p.m. On Friday, Bill will lie in state at St. Helen Catholic Church beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the Mass of Resurrection at 11:00 a.m. Fr. Richard Seifferly and Sr. Barbara Matievich, O.P. will officiate. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Vincent DePaul or to St. Helen Catholic Church.
