Anita L. Kelly

December 11, 1952 — November 1, 2026

West Branch, MI

Anita Kelly, 73, passed away on November 1, 2026 after a long battle with cancer. Born on December 11, 1952, in Mt. Clemens, Michigan, Anita was the daughter of Julia and Irvin Bee. She graduated from Lakeshore High School and began a life that would be centered around family, hard work, and saying exactly what was on her mind.

At just 19 years old, Anita met Mike Kelly and six months later they were married, beginning a partnership that would span more than five decades. Together they built a life in Rose City, Michigan, where they raised their four daughters and created countless memories.

Anita wore many hats throughout her life. She helped Mike run his business from day one. But the role she valued most was being a mother. She dedicated countless hours to driving her girls to school, practices, games, and events. Whether it was on the field, in the gym, or wherever her daughters happened to be competing, Anita was there. She never missed a game. She also spent time coaching her daughters' sports teams and was always one of their biggest supporters. You always knew when Anita was at a game. Later in life this support continued with her grandchildren’s sports.

She was blessed with ten grandchildren, ranging in age from 5 to 18, who brought her tremendous pride and joy. She loved watching them grow, ride the side by side and golf cart, fishing and their sporting events.

Anita was outspoken, opinionated, fiercely independent, and unforgettable. Subtle was never her strong suit, and a filter was rarely included in the package. She said what she thought, whether people wanted to hear it or not. While her straightforward nature could sometimes be misunderstood, those who knew her best understood that her honesty came from a place of authenticity. You always knew where you stood with Anita.

There were few things that made her happier than riding on the mower with her music. She could often be found enjoying time at the casino, golfing, fishing, drinking a Pepsi or in her early adult years hunting at the family cabin and having a good time at her bowling league. Anita’s happy place was on the island of Aruba where her and Mike traveled annually to relax and enjoy the beach. Throughout her life, she had a special place in her heart for animals and cherished the many pets who were part of her family over the years. She leaves behind her beloved dogs, who were constant companions.

Anita is survived by her husband, Mike Kelly; her four daughters Katie (Ben) Keith, Malynda (Jacob) Gamboa, Stephanie (Jamie) Park, and her baby Kacie (Nate) Elzinga; ten grandchildren Karson and Brenson Keith, Michael and Jessie Gamoba, Brody, Riley and Jackson Park, Presleigh, Jayda and Kayden Elzinga.; her brother, Knute (Sharon) Bee; her sister, Georgie Vaughn; and numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends and family members who will miss her deeply.

Anita lived life on her own terms. She loved deeply, spoke freely, worked hard, and devoted herself to her family. Her absence leaves a void that cannot be filled, but the stories, laughter, and memories she leaves behind will live on for generations.

A Memorial Service for Anita will be held at a later date
