Betty Jo Whitt

Betty Jo Whitt, age 80, passed away on Friday, February 18, 2022 at her home in West Branch. She was born on June 23, 1941 in Clintwood, VA to Roley and Irene (Mooney) Stone.

Betty was born and raised in Clintwood, VA. She and her husband, Jim, moved to Michigan in the early 1960s for work and to raise their family. She worked in the automotive tubing industry for several years as a manager. After retiring she worked part time at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. She made many friends and great memories there. Once she fully retired, she became very active in her church (Memorial Free Will Baptist), she was the treasurer for several years before helping transition the church to a new pastoral staff (The Gathering House). After living in Hazel Park for over 40 years, she decided to move to West Branch to live with her granddaughter.

In her free time, Betty enjoyed reading, tending to her flower garden, watching for deer and Gator rides. She was strong in her Christian faith. She was a loving, kind, spirited woman with a heart of gold. She will be dearly missed by all.

Betty, loving mother, is survived by her daughter, LaDonna (Dennis) Fegan of Hazel Park; son, Mike (Vicki) Whitt of Chesterfield; son, Ken (Lisa) Whitt of Roseville; loving Nanny of grandchildren, Jennifer (Dennis) Diegel of Warren, Amanda (RJ III) Kling of Armada, Ashley (John) Dallas of Shelby Twp, Becky (Justin) Dinsmore of West Branch, Nicole Whitt of Clinton Twp, Joe (Lucy) Whitt of Roseville; loving Great Nan to great grandchildren; Jacob, Allison, Mason, Kimberly, RJ IV and Penelope; and adored sisters, Jetti (Larry) Warrick of Monticello, KY and Sherri (Randy) Mullins of Clintwood, VA.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Roley and Irene Stone, her husband, Jim Whitt, her special friend, James Colley, her brother, Chase Stone and her sister, Rebecca Stone.

Per Betty’s wishes, cremation has taken place and her ashes will be buried next to her husband in Clintwood, VA at a later time.
