Catherine Ann Oberdick, known to her loved ones as Cathy peacefully passed away on Friday, June 7, 2024, at her home in West Branch, MI, at the age of 76. She was born on August 5, 1947, in Bay City, MI to Howard and Virginia (Muntz) Schroeder. Cathy was a beloved wife, nurturing mother, cherished grandmother, and dear friend to many. She lived in West Branch since 1976.
On June 12, 1971, she married Frederick Oberdick in Ann Arbor, MI.
In her life journey, Cathy found joy in the simple pleasures. She had a passion for crocheting often could be found creating beautiful works of art which she generously shared with family and friends. Garage sales were not just a hobby for her; they were an adventure she embarked on with enthusiasm, always on the lookout for unique treasures to repurpose into crafts that would bring smiles to those around her. Above all else, Cathy treasured the time spent with her family at gatherings filled with laughter and love.
Cathy will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Frederick A. Oberdick; her devoted children: Carrie M. (David) Schaufele, Virginia L. (Michael) Stoneback, and Lawrence A. (Laurel) Oberdick; and her adoring grandchildren: Alex D. Schaufele, Jacob A. Stoneback, Logan F. Schaufele, Lucas S. Stoneback, Collin A. Oberdick, and Abigail M. Oberdick. She is also survived by her brother Jess A. (Julie) Schroeder.
A private family celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
Her kindness, creativity, and loving spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her.
