David Matthew Heckman, age 47, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, in Prescott, MI. He was born on October 28, 1977, in Royal Oak, MI to Garry and Irene (Berry) Heckman. Dave lived in West Branch, MI since 1988, formerly of Detroit, MI.
Dave attended Ogemaw Heights High School, where he laid the foundation for his future endeavors. He dedicated much of his working life to Dan Winter Poured Walls, where he served as a concrete foreman. His commitment to his craft was evident in everything he did.
Outside of work, Dave enjoyed many hobbies. He had a passion for hunting and fishing, which allowed him to connect with nature and enjoy the great outdoors. His love for adventure extended to riding motorcycles, camping, and canoeing. David was known for his spirited personality and playful nature, often causing a bit of trouble in the best way possible.
He leaves behind his sister, Katie (Jason) Herman and his beloved nephew, Laken Herman, all of Prescott. Dave is also survived by his aunt, Sue Heckman of Tawas, MI, and cousins, Jeff Heckman and Chase Heckman, both of West Branch. Amongst all who will miss him is his beloved dog, Vincent, who shared countless memories with Dave.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Dave will be remembered for his lively spirit, love for adventure, and the warmth he brought to those around him. He touched many lives, and his memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
A memorial gathering will be held at the Rifle River Recreation Area - Picnic Shelter in Lupton, MI on Sunday, August 10, 2025 at 12:00 p.m.
