David Earl Schwab, age 83, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, October 24, 2024. Dave was born February 18,1941to Earl and Thelma Schwab in Canton, Ohio. He and his beloved wife Elizabeth (Liz) were married for over 62 years, residing in Ohio, Troy and South Lyon Michigan and then Arizona or Florida for over 20 winters, returning to their West Branch home for beautiful summers. Dave and Liz have been part of the Lake Ogemaw/Ogemaw County community since 1968.
Dave was a man of many talents, caring, loved and respected by many. By education he was engineer, businessman, paramedic and builder. He graduated from the University of Cincinnati, BS Engineering in 1964. He worked for Ford Motor for over 32 years and upon retirement ran his own multi-service business with Liz. He was also a favorite with the kids as a school bus driver.
Dave was a life - long Christian with a deeply rooted faith in Jesus. His strong faith created opportunities to follow his true passion for volunteering for over 43 years. He was a volunteer paramedic and chief for South Lyon Ambulance, CPR and emergency medicine instructor for multiple groups, cave guide in Arizona and later guide, instructor, server, and usher for several different organizations and parks in Florida, educating people of all ages. In the West Branch area, he was active in Pioneer Power for many years.
Besides volunteering, Dave loved being with family, friends and beloved dogs.
Dave was the best dad to his daughters and sons (in-law) Tammy (Ed) Stone and Kim (Greg) Clark. He deeply loved his grandchildren - Kelsey (Matt) Tetreault, Craig (Liz) Stone, Erin (Matthew) Oppert, Derek (Kathryn) Stone and great-grandchildren -Riley Stone, Owen Stone, Sawyer Tetreault, Caroline Stone and Oliver Oppert. Further survived by sister-in-law Evelyn Steinmetz, nieces and many dear friends.
Dave was predeceased by his parents and his grandson Austin Clark.
Friends are invited to join family in celebrating Dave’s life on Sunday, November 17, 2024, 3:30 p.m. at the Ogemaw Hills Free Methodist Church, West Branch Michigan.
