Derrick James Keywood, age 73, passed away at his home in St. Helen, MI on Friday, May 22, 2026. He was born on October 3, 1952, in Highland Park, MI to Floyd and Joyce (Hall) Keywood. He lived a life marked by kindness and thoughtfulness.

Derrick worked for Ford Motor Company and retired in 2001 after many years of dedicated service. He took pride in his work and the knowledge he gained during his career. Retirement gave him more time to enjoy the simple pleasures in life, which he embraced with gratitude and contentment.

He had many interests that reflected his easygoing and loving personality. Derrick enjoyed playing the guitar and listening to music, and he found happiness in riding through the trails with his family. He also enjoyed watching television and spending quiet time at home. Derrick was an animal lover, and he had a playful sense of humor. He was into everything related to Bigfoot and Sasquatch. He was known for his lighthearted spirit, his caring heart, and his habit of always trying to feed everyone, a gesture that showed how much he loved to make others feel welcome and cared for.

He is survived by his son, Rob (Lisa) Keywood, his granddaughter, Samantha Keywood, and his great-grandchildren, Cyrus, Audrey, Dalton, and Jameson. Derrick also leaves behind his sisters, Diane (Ed) Sywak, Debbie (Dan) Gismondi, and Dawn Keywood. He is also survived by his nieces, Aimee (Craig) Jarchow, Shawna Brenner, and Mandy Gismondi. Derrick treasured his family deeply and especially enjoyed spending time with his son, granddaughter, and great-grandchildren, who brought him great joy.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Joyce.

Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later time.

Those who knew Derrick will remember him as kind, thoughtful, and friendly. He had a way of making people feel comfortable and valued, and his presence brought warmth to family gatherings and everyday moments alike.
