George Losee, loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2026 in West Branch, Michigan at the age of 88 years. George was born October 1, 1938, the son of the late Robert Edward Losee II and Dorothy Mabel Gould. George graduated from Saginaw High School in 1956 and went on to serve his country in the United States Air Force. During his military service he was a propulsion jet mechanic, a role that reflected the skill, discipline and steady work ethic that would remain with him throughout his life. George married Barbara Ann LePeak on December 16, 1958 in Reno, Nevada while serving in the Air Force. She survives him. After his time in the Air Force, he built a long and respected career as a journeyman electrician with IBEW Local 557, working for more than 40 years. Together George and Barb raised three children, and upon retirement built their dream home on Henderson Lake where they created countless family memories.
Outside of work, George found joy in many of life’s simple pleasures. In his earlier years, he enjoyed hunting deer, pheasant and rabbit, while in his later years he preferred to feed the deer and wildlife instead. He also enjoyed playing the lottery, cheering for his Detroit Tigers and University of Michigan football. George always had a special love for animals, and in his later years found tremendous happiness and joy with his cats.
Above all, George treasured his family. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Losee, of Lupton. He also leaves behind his children and their families: Jeffrey (Tracy) Losee of Greenville, Jennifer (Jon) Helmker of Commerce Township, and Robert II (Angela) of Grand Blanc. His family circle also includes his grandchildren Amanda, Krystal, Rachael, Adam, Mary, Jordan, Ryan and Alexis, as well as his great-grandchildren Riley and Wrenlee. He is also survived by his sister, Joan Seymour, of Traverse City.
George was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Gould Losee; father, Robert E. Losee and his sister, Ardel.
