JoAnn Hostetler

Hazel JoAnn Hostetler, was born on July 8, 1934, in Dennis, Kansas. After a wonderful journey through life, she passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at South Lyon Senior Care in South Lyon, MI at the age of 91.

JoAnn made her home in South Lyon since 2015, having previously lived in Prescott, MI. In 1951, JoAnn married Byron Hostetler in Angola, IN. They owned a sterling silver jewelry business for 15 years in Bay City, MI before retiring.

She was a person of many interests and talents. JoAnn enjoyed cooking and spending time with her grandchildren. Birdwatching always brought her joy, as did collecting teacups and saucers, shopping and creating beautiful ceramics.

JoAnn leaves behind her loving family. She is survived by her children, Jim (Christine Shelters) Hostetler of Farmington Hills, MI, Rhonda (Larry) Smith of South Lyon, and Scott (Tara) Hostetler of Prescott. She was a cherished grandmother to Jessica, Lisa, Hailey, and Tyler.

JoAnn was preceded in death by her husband, Byron, parents, Virgil and Hazel (Lockler) Moore, as well as six brothers and sisters.

Her warmth and love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A private family celebration has been held.
