Ileen Wilma Steckling

Ileen Wilma Steckling, age 85, passed away Friday, August 6, 2021 at the Horizon Senior Living in St. Helen, MI. Ileen was born Friday, September 13, 1935 in Midland, MI to Anthony and Elsie (Ringler) Barton. Shortly after she was born her family moved to the St. Helen area and she has lived there ever since. Ileen graduated from Roscommon High School in 1953. Ileen then married Bill B. Steckling and raised her family. She was active in the American Legion Auxiliary post #416 in St. Helen for many years, she was also a member of the Eagles in West Branch. Ileen was a Girl Scout Leader and enjoyed bowling, reading, traveling, and attending numerous American Legion Conventions through the years.

Ileen is survived by her children Sally (Art) Allen of St. Helen, Cindy (Tom) Mikolaizik of St. Helen, Debbie (Dan Long) Bireley of St. Helen, Bill A. (Jeri) Steckling of St. Helen, and Margaret Smyk of Pontiac. She is also survived by her long-time special friend of 20 years Bob Fahndrich of St. Helen, 11 Grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Bill B. Steckling, grandson Anthony, sons in law Barry and Jimmy and siblings Mary Alice, Dick, Fred, Bob, Albert, Henry, Judy, Helen, and Harry.

Visitation for Ileen will be held Thursday, August 12, 2021 at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in St. Helen from 12-1PM. Her funeral service will follow at 1:00PM. A graveside service will be held at the Fairview Cemetery in St. Helen. Andy Vansmayes will officiate.
