Ivan Francis Lewis, age 94, passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2025, at The Brook in West Branch, MI. Born on July 9, 1931, in Louisville, Illinois, Ivan lived a life rich in service, passion, and love. He lived in West Branch since 1993, formerly of Wayne, MI.
Ivan dedicated 31 years of his professional life to the Ford Motor Company, culminating in his well-earned retirement in 1993. His steadfast work ethic was only surpassed by his commitment to his community, where he was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in West Branch. His involvement extended beyond the church, as he was a cherished member of the Kiwanis Club and the Masonic Lodge both in West Branch and Wayne, Michigan.
With a heart full of adventure, Ivan found joy in hunting and fishing. These pastimes were not just hobbies for him; they were avenues through which he shared his knowledge and passion with others. Shortly after the enactment of the hunter safety law, he became a certified hunter safety instructor and an NRA firearms safety instructor. For several years, he devoted his time to teaching others, imparting crucial safety lessons that will resonate through generations.
Ivan was a proud veteran, having served in the Naval Reserve from 1950 to 1957. This time in service instilled in him values of dedication and a sense of duty that, along with his many interests, shaped the man he became.
He leaves behind his beloved children, Gregory (Nancy) Lewis of New Boston, MI, Paul (Amy) Lewis of Pinckney, MI, and Joy (Bryan) Schroeder of Fort Gratiot, MI, and his son-in-law, Ron Morris of Ohio. His legacy continues through his grandchildren—Tara, Jessica, Joshua, Matthew, Kristen, Katie, Michael, Nancy, Angela, and Katherine—and 13 great-grandchildren who will remember him for his kindness and wisdom.
Ivan is preceded in death by his cherished wife, Doris "Jackie" Lewis, his daughter, Gail Morris, his parents, Arnold and Mae (Bailey) Lewis, and his siblings, Dale Lewis and Hazel Randall. Their love and memories will forever hold a sacred place in the hearts of those who knew him.
As we celebrate the life of Ivan Francis Lewis, we remember a man whose spirit was as vibrant as the sun and whose heart was as deep as the waters he loved to fish. He leaves behind a legacy of love, teaching, and community service that will inspire all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
