Jake William Snider

Jake William Snider, age 72, passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at his home in Prescott, MI. He was born on March 17, 1952, in Saginaw, MI to Earl and Bernice (Preger) Snider.

Jake graduated from Clio High School in 1970. He worked at General Motors – Buick City for 25 years.

Jake will be remembered as a man of energy, humor, and deep devotion to the people and pursuits he loved most. He owned and operated Performance by Jake, a snowmobile tuning team that reflected both his skill and his passion for racing. Snowmobiles held a special place in his life, and that enthusiasm extended to hunting, NASCAR, and racing of all sorts. He also enjoyed traveling and adventures, and he was happiest when working in the garage, always finding purpose in the things he could build, fix, or share with others.

Those who knew Jake will remember his amazing laugh and the joy it brought to those around him. He loved jokes and songs, and he also loved teaching and mentoring others, generously sharing his knowledge and encouragement. Above all, he loved his family and treasured the time he spent with them, a commitment that remained one of the defining parts of his life.

He is survived by his son, Michael Snider, and daughter-in-law, Lisa; his daughter, Holly Garverick, and son-in-law, Todd. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Takoda, Jacob, Chayton, Josh (Maria), and Gabe. Jake is further survived by his brothers and sisters, Carl (Suki) Snider, Barbara Dennis, Arlene (Fred) Castleman, Donna (Shem) Howard, Jim Snider, and Janice Gilliss, along with many nieces and nephews. He will be missed by his family and by all who shared in his laughter, his stories, and his love of adventure.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Cathy Snider, who passed away in August 2026 and his parents.

Jake’s life was marked by enthusiasm, generosity, and a love for family, friendship, and the thrill of the things that brought him joy. His memory will continue to live on in the many lives he touched.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later time.
