James Joseph Hoydic

James Joseph Hoydic passed away suddenly on Thursday, September 17, 2026, in West Branch, Michigan. He was born on Friday, August 16, 1946, in Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan to Joseph and Eleanor (Rogocki) Hoydic. 

James graduated from St. Rose of Lima High School in Detroit in 1964. He was known as a hard-working and caring man, and those qualities were reflected throughout his life and career. For many years, he worked as a service tech repair man for Sears and Roebuck. Later, he continued his working life as an RV service technician for many years, bringing skill and dedication to the work he did.

Over the years, James moved between, and made his home in both West Branch, Michigan and Ocala, Florida, and had grew up and was raised in Harper Woods, Michigan. He enjoyed many simple and meaningful pleasures in life, including classic cars, fishing, travel, cruising, and woodworking. He was a life member of the Knights of Columbus of West Branch. He also treasured time spent with his family, which remained at the heart of his life. Friends and neighbors knew that he could often be found most mornings visiting at Mac's Place and Buck's Restaurant, places where his presence became part of the daily rhythm of the community.

Above all, James will be remembered by his family. He is survived by his wife, Marlene Hoydic of West Branch; his son James Hoydic and his wife, Becki, of Ketchikan, Alaska; and his son Jonathan Hoydic and his wife, Beth, of West Branch. He also leaves behind five grandchildren, Zachary, Mason, Alexander, Brooke, and Luke Hoydic, as well as five great-grandchildren, Matthew, Benjamin, Tucker, Kolson, and Lillyanna Hoydic. Each of them was part of the family circle he loved so much, and his memory will remain close to them always.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Hoydic, and his mother, Eleanor Rogocki Hoydic.

James Joseph Hoydic will be remembered with affection for his steady work ethic, his caring nature, his enjoyment of good conversation, and the love he shared with those closest to him. His life was marked by devotion to family, pride in his work, and appreciation for the friendships and pastimes that brought him joy. He will be deeply missed.

A private family service will be held at a later date.
