James Earnest Williams, born on December 30, 1947, in Montgomery, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at MyMichigan Medical Center in Saginaw, Michigan at the age of 77.
James dedicated 30 years of his life working at General Motors Powertrain in Ypsilanti, Michigan. In addition to his career, James honorably served in the United States Navy for four years. He attended Ogemaw Hills Free Methodist Church in West Branch, MI, where he found great joy and community.
He had a love for nature and enjoyed spending his spare time hunting, fishing, and taking care of his yard. His stories were often shared with family during gatherings, where laughter filled the air.
James will be remembered fondly by his sisters, Betty Armstrong, Gatha Robinson, and Patricia Robinson. He also leaves behind eight nieces, one nephew, and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews who cherished him deeply.
He was preceded in death by his parents William and Elizabeth (Small) Williams, his infant brother Billy, and his sister Joyce, whom he lovingly cared for over the past twenty years.
James's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life, with military honors, will be held at the Ogemaw Hills Free Methodist Church in West Branch on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. Pastor David Kurtz will officiate.
Burial has taken place at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI.
