John Albert Emond, who was born on October 30, 1959, in Chicago, Illinois, to John and Maureen (McAuliffe) Emond and passed away on May 15, 2026, in Tawas City, Michigan, at MyMichigan Health Center.
John served his country as a veteran of the United States Army, where he was part of the infantry division and served as a ranger. His military service was an important part of his life, and it reflected his courage, discipline, and sense of duty. The experiences he carried from that time remained with him throughout his years, shaping the character and resilience that family and friends came to admire. He honored that service through the way he lived, with humility, loyalty, and a strong work ethic.
Outside of his service, John found joy in restoration, where his patience and skill allowed him to bring new life to things that others might have overlooked. He also had a creative spirit and enjoyed drawing and painting, pursuits that gave him a meaningful outlet for expression. Music was another important part of his life, and he especially enjoyed playing guitar. Whether he was listening to music or making it himself, he appreciated the comfort and connection it brought. He also had a special fondness for dogs, and his love for animals was one more reflection of his gentle and caring nature.
John was a devoted husband to his wife, Jill Emond, and a father to his daughter, Roxanne Emond, and his sons, Patrick Emond and Joseph Emond. He was also a grandfather to Christian, Bryce, and Aubrie, and he cherished the joy and energy they brought into his life. His sister, Jennifer Emond, also held a special place in his heart, and the bond they shared was an important part of his family life.
John Albert Emond will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him. His life was one of service, creativity, and devotion.
A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.
