John Raymond Boring, age 71, passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2020 at his home in Rose City. He was born on April 26, 1949 in Flint to Fred ad Bessie (Hartwell) Boring. He served in the United States Army as a radio operator in Germany during Vietnam from 1968-1970. John worked 33 years for General Motors and 13 years at the Shell Forwards in Rose City. He played in the band, “The Relics” from Grayling, and played many instruments by ear. He was a very good singer of classic country and old time rock and roll. John was a HAM operator and HAM V.E. administrator of testing to get your license. John married Susan Crossno in Flint on August 24, 1991. He lived in Rose City since 2000, formerly of Millington.
John is survived by his wife, Susan Boring of Rose City; son, Fred Boring of Houghton Lake; step-son, Dennis Crossno of Alpena; grandchildren, Kloyie and Gabriel Boring; and brother-in-law, Robert Arendall of Rose City. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Fred and Walter Boring; and sisters, Inez Morse and Jesse Richards.
Visitation at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will held on Monday, August 17, 2020 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and on Tuesday, August 18, 2020 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Visitation will be held with precautions, due to the current pandemic, limiting the number of attendees at a given time.
