She passed away, at the age of 63, on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan, leaving behind a legacy that reflects her vibrant spirit and warm heart. Lori lived in the Rose City/Lupton area for many years.
Lori was a remarkable woman, characterized by her small stature but larger-than-life personality. She possessed an even bigger heart, which enabled her to forge meaningful connections with those around her. Her interests and hobbies were as diverse as the love she shared; she adored shopping, decorating, camping, and most especially, throwing elaborate birthday parties that brought joy to her family. Baking was another passion of hers, a skill she used to create delightful treats for loved ones, further showcasing her nurturing nature. Spending time with family was a priority, and she cherished every moment shared with them.
She leaves behind her devoted husband, Carman Bloss, and her beloved children, Mark (Katie) Murringer and Heather (Fred) Martin, and special niece, who was like a daughter, Amanda Martin. Lori's role as a mother extended into her capacity as a mother-in-law to Amanda Cox-Bloss. The love she had for her grandchildren was evident in the joy she found in their company; she is survived by Tylor, Trevor, Haylie Murringer, Lexie Minzey, Eli, Piper Rainey, Carissa (Bobby) Martin, Tesla, Travis (Kylee) Martin, Nathan, Brook, Sarah, Grayson, Presley, Karter, Vanessa Martin, Aubrey, Brinley, and Colby Bloss. Her great-grandchildren, Deland, Evelynn, Oliver, and Ella also carry a piece of her spirit forward.
She is also survived by her siblings, Connie (Bob) Knaub and Mary "Tootie" (Duane) Smith, as well as her in-laws, Ray (Anne) Bloss, Barney Bloss, Linda (Bill) Clark, Tammy Peters, and Benji Bloss. The cherished memories of Lori will continue to resonate through her nieces and nephews: John Marcon, Brian Marcon, Allen Barkman, Kevin Barkman, Sarah VonEye, Melissa Bloss, Leslie Bloss, Melissa Clark, Barney Bloss II, Bruce Bloss, Tanya Esmond, and Chad Bloss.
In addition to the cherished family she leaves behind, Lori was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Maryann (Cornell) Ranger, her stepmother, Margaret Ranger, and her son, Carman L. Bloss II. Their memories remain intertwined with hers, and the love they shared will endure through the many lives she touched.
Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, each of whom carries forward the joy and warmth she so generously gave.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
