Laurie Davis-Squires, left this world on August 22, 2025, at her home in West Branch, Michigan, surrounded by her beloved family. Born on October 7, 1951, in Fresno, California, Laurie went above and beyond for those she loved. Her friends always felt cherished and her family felt loved and protected in her presence.

Laurie was known for her honesty, humorous spirit, and stubborn determination. She took immense pride in her family, considering them her greatest accomplishment. As a devoted mother, wife, grandmother, and friend, she will forever remain in the hearts of those she loved. A note shared by her granddaughter in her final moments read “I love you so much. You are the best nana in the whole world.” Of all the roles she took in life, “Nana” was her favorite. Laurie's grandkids held a special place in her heart, and she loved nothing more than spending time with them.

In addition to her grandchildren, Laurie enjoyed caring for her chickens and dogs and tending to her garden. She had a gift for cooking and baking. She never measured much, but everything was full of love and fed us for decades. Every year, she’d send her pumpkin pie recipe, again and again, when we’d ask for it like it was the first time. Her cooking and legacy lives on in all of us, carried forward in the meals we make today.

Laurie loved the outdoors and found peace camping under the trees. She was adventurous and had a knack for finding a way- once even bringing her nephew a pony in the back of a station wagon from California to Oregon. Nothing could stand in her way when it came to doing something for the people she loved.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Jeff Squires; her loving children Twilla LaCentra, Delta Luna, Casey James, Kaitlan Case, and Christina Squires; her sister Margie O’Conner; and a host of beloved grandchildren: Angela Gonzalez, Emily LaCentra, Kylee Tornabene, Kaleb Diaz, Ethan Dafonte, Bladen James, Jett James, Bella O’Conner, Penelope Case, Aubrey Case and Gallie (grand-dog). Laurie was also a proud great grandmother of four great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind many close friends from her Michigan community, including life-long best friend Lenna, Vickie, Bonnie, Michelle, and Big Jim.

As we remember Laurie, let us honor her legacy by embodying the love and dedication she so openly shared. She will be profoundly missed but forever cherished in the tapestry of our lives.

A private family service is being planned for the spring of 2026.
