Margaret A. Gugin

Margaret A. Gugin, age 86 of West Branch, passed away peacefully at her home Tuesday, October 15, 2013. Margaret was born March 11, 1927 in Milwaukee, the daughter of Elmer and Alice (Proulx) Curtis. She had lived in West Branch since 1994, formerly of Turner. Margaret and her husband, Ernie, formerly owned and operated Ernie’s Market in Turner and she loved spending time with her family. Margaret is survived by her daughters, Diane (Fred) Longton of Jackson and Sandra (Clyde) Smith of West Branch, her grandchildren, Jeffrey, Ronald and Darren Longton and Scott, Aaron, David and Jynna Smith, 12 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her sister, Madelyn Weir of Sault Ste. Marie and her brother William Maclean of Holland. She was preceded in death by her husband Ernest E. Gugin, and her daughter Carol M. Powell. Visitation at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin on Friday, October 18, 2013 from 5-8 p.m. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Pastor Tom Teall will officiate. Burial will take place Saturday, 2:30 p.m. at Cedar Valley Cemetery in Twining. Memorial Contributions may be made to Hospice Advantage, West Branch.
