Mary Ellen Houston, born on August 31, 1932, in Mt. Morris, MI, gracefully departed this world on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at The Brook of Standish at Eden Fields in Standish, MI, at the age of 93. She lived in Rose City, MI since 1987, formerly of St. Clair Shores, MI.

Mary Ellen was a treasured member of the Holy Family Catholic Church in West Branch and actively participated in the Catholic Council of Women, reflecting her deep faith and commitment to her community.

Mary Ellen was not only a devoted parishioner but also a remarkable woman whose heart overflowed with love for her family and friends. She found joy in simple yet fulfilling pursuits; sewing, gardening, and music were her passions, and she cherished the laughter and companionship found in ladies’ outings, creating memories that would last a lifetime.

She is survived by her loving children, Mary Ann (Terry) Lynch, Frank (Leslie) Houston Jr., and Linda (Mike) Gladd, who carry on her legacy with pride. Mary Ellen was blessed with the joy of 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense happiness and laughter. Her family extends to many nieces and nephews, who will remember her warmth, wisdom, and the light she brought into their lives.

She was preceded in death by her cherished husband, Frank Houston, and her beloved son, Jeffrey. The hearts of her parents, Thomas and Agnes (Phillip) Mason, and her brothers, Max, Bob, Chuck, and Thomas Mason, remain with her in spirit, bound by the everlasting ties of family.

She will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know her.

The funeral service will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church in West Branch on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. Father Al Pillarelli will officiate. Burial will follow at Holy Family Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the American Cancer Society and Holy Family Catholic Church.
