Mary I. Karafa

Mary I. Karafa, age 93 of Charlevoix, passed away Monday, August 23, 2010 at Sunnybank Assisted Living. Mary had lived in Charlevoix since 2006, formerly of Prescott. She was a member of the Zion Church of the Brethren and she loved cooking and gardening. Mary is survived by her children, Corrine (Douglas) Gildner of Prescott and Kay (Gary) Anderson of Charlevoix, her grandchildren; Steffeny, Heather, Joe, Mary, Randy, Holly, Kelly and Amy, 17 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and her brother, Bryon (JoAnn) Hostetler of Prescott. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Horace Dickerson, second husband, Joe Karafa and her sisters, Florence, Esther and Ellen. Visitation at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin on Thursday, August 26, 2010 from 5-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Rev. Kevin Switzer will officiate with burial following at Selkirk Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to Zion Church of the Brethren.
