Mary Helen Yennior

Mary Helen Yennior, born Mary Helen Zsidi, passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2026, at MyMichigan Medical Center in West Branch, Michigan with her family by her side, at the age of 89. She was born on November 29, 1936, in Prescott, Michigan, and lived a long life rooted in family, hard work, and the place she called home.

For most of her life, Mary lived in Maple Valley, where she built a life centered on those she loved. She was a culinary assistant at Bambi Lake Church Camp in Roscommon, a role that reflected her caring nature and steady work ethic. Above all, she devoted herself to raising her eight children, a responsibility that stood as the most demanding and meaningful work of her life.

Mary found happiness in the simple and lasting pleasures of home. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, and chickens, interests that reflected her love of the outdoors and the everyday beauty of country living. Those who knew her will remember a woman whose life was shaped by dedication, resilience, and deep family ties.

She is survived by her loving children, Mary LaForge, Nancie Kersey, Steve Yennior (Nancy Jarocki), Betty (James) Medlock, Helen Henley, Peggy (Brian) Vaughn, and Barb (Jason Burkett) Yennior; and many loving grandchildren and great grandchildren. Their lives stand as part of her enduring legacy, and her love for her family remained at the center of her life.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, George, in 2003; by her son, William Yennior; by her parents, Ernest and Mary Zsidi; and by her brothers, Anton, Charles, Ernest, Joseph, Michael, and Stephen. She now rests in the memory of those who went before her and in the hearts of those who remain to cherish her life.

Visitation will be held at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Homes in St. Helen, on Saturday, November 7, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to the time of the memorial service at 11:00 a.m. A graveside service will take place at Maple Valley Cemetery, 3916 County Hwy F 97, St. Helen at 3:00 p.m. Barry Brown will officiate.

Mary Helen Yennior will be remembered with love by her family and by all who shared in her life in Maple Valley and beyond. Her memory will live on in the family she raised, the home she nurtured, and the many quiet ways she made life better for those around her.
