Mervyn George Rohl, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 27, 2025, at MyMichigan Medical Center in West Branch, MI, at the age of 85. He was born on September 10, 1940, in West Branch to George and Gladys (Mervyn) Rohl.
Mervyn was more than just a farmer; he was the owner of his own farm where he spent countless days tending to the land he cherished. Mervyn graduated from Rose City High School in 1959 and carried with him the values instilled during those formative years throughout his life.
Nature was Mervyn's playground, and he found joy in small moments—feeding the deer that visited his property, watching the birds and deer, riding his golf cart, and cutting firewood. Gardening was not just a hobby for Mervyn; it was a passion that allowed him to cultivate beauty and provide for his family. He also relished the times spent tinkering with tractors and other machinery, finding satisfaction in their mechanics. He looked forward to leisurely lunches with family after their adventurous kayaking trips, cherishing these bonds with loved ones as the true nourishment of his heart.
Mervyn's legacy lives on through his children: Annette Hawley, Danette Jansen, John (Sarah) Rohl, and Michael (Amy) Rohl. His grandchildren carry forth his spirit: Justin (Shannon) Hawley, Jennifer Hawley, Warren (Tera) Hawley, Chris Jansen, David Rohl, Onalee Rohl, Todd (Ariel) White, Tyler Rohl, Ashlynn Schwind, CJ (Rony) Wend, and Megan (Mitchell) Wend. He was also blessed with many great-grandchildren who brought even more joy to his life and his nephew, Dirk (Norma) Andrews, who held a special place in his heart.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Lois in October 2025, his daughter, Alisa Schwind, his grandson, Jeffrey Hawley, brother, Fletcher Rohl, sister-in-law, Luella Andrews, niece, Dana Andrews, nephew, Donald Andrews, granddaughter-in-law, Amanda Shaw, and son-in-law, Gary Hawley. Their memories will forever resonate in the hearts of those who loved him.
