St. Helen, MI

Patricia Rose Shiel, a beloved member of the St. Helen community, peacefully departed this world on Sunday, August 24, 2025, at the age of 98 at The Brook in Roscommon, Michigan. Born on May 18, 1927, in St. Helen, Michigan, Patricia became a cherished figure to many during her lifetime, and her memory will continue to inspire those who knew and loved her.

For 30 years, Patricia dedicated herself to serving her community through her work at Carter's Supermarket in St. Helen. Her warm smile and friendly demeanor made her a favorite among customers and colleagues alike. Patricia was more than just an employee; she was a pillar of strength and kindness within the community.

A devoted member of the church, Patricia first attended South Branch Baptist Church where she was an eager participant in church activities until its closure. She then transferred her membership and continued her spiritual journey at St. Helen Community Baptist Church. As a treasurer and a spirited member of the choir and puppet ministry, Patricia's contributions reinforced her unwavering faith and commitment to her church family.

Outside of her commitments to work and church, Patricia found joy in the simplicity of life’s pleasures. She enjoyed ice skating, bike riding, and walking—activities that kept her active and connected to the vibrant Michigan seasons. Alongside her love for nature, Patricia had a profound affection for her dog and cat, Suzie and Pierre, who brought endless joy and companionship into her life.

Patricia is survived by her brothers Harold Scott and Howard (Jan) Scott, 17 nieces and nephews, as well as several great nieces and nephews, and numerous great great nieces and nephews.

Patricia is preceded in death by her loving parents, Henry and Bertha (Leline) Scott. She was also welcomed in heaven by her husband, Earl Shiel, who left this world in 2001, her sisters Eula Elliott and Donna Schaeffer, her brother Richard Scott, and her cherished nephew Fred Elliott along with nieces Sandra Patera and Janice Scott.
