Rebecca Ann Goward, age 64, passed away peacefully, at her home, on Monday, April 20, 2026, in Hale, Michigan. She was born on February 22, 1962, in Flint, Michigan to Clifford and Sondra (Jean) Bortle. Rebecca’s life was a beautiful tapestry of love, adventure, and devotion to her family and faith.

Rebecca was a cherished member of the Zion Church of the Brethren in Prescott, MI, where she found community and strength throughout her life. She had a spirit deeply connected to the outdoors, finding joy in the simple yet profound pleasures of camping, fishing, and gardening. These passions reflected her love of nature and the peaceful moments it provided her. Alongside these interests, Rebecca delighted in attending concerts, traveling to new places, and most importantly, spending quality time with her beloved family.

Those who knew Rebecca remember her not only for her zest for life but also for the warmth she shared effortlessly. She was a devoted mother to her son, Michael Beasley, and a loving grandmother to her granddaughter, Khloie Beasley.

Rebecca was a blessing to her siblings, Connie Bortle, Cheryl Miles, and Gary Bortle, as well as to her several nieces and nephews. Her loss is deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Goward, whose memory she treasured, as well as her parents.

Rebecca Ann Goward’s enduring spirit and love for life will remain a guiding light for her family and friends.

Her memorial will be included with her parents on Thursday, April 23, 2026.
