Richard Dean Cramb Sr., affectionately known as "Dick," was born on September 4, 1933, in Plymouth, MI, and he passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at The Brook in West Branch, MI surrounded by his family. Dick lived a life of service, dedication, and love, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew him.
Dick lived in West Branch, Lake Ogemaw, for over 25 years, formerly of Livonia, MI.
For 5 years, Dick served as the Post Commander of American Legion Post #32 in Livonia. His unwavering commitment to his fellow veterans was evident through his lifelong membership, where he worked tirelessly to uphold the values of honor and respect for those who served. A veteran himself, Dick proudly served in the United States Navy from 1951 to 1955 during the Korean era, exemplifying the spirit of sacrifice and bravery.
Outside of his military and community service, Dick was an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers and the University of Michigan, celebrating his teams with passion and enthusiasm. He enjoyed the serene life at Lake Ogemaw, where countless memories were made with family and friends. His love for youth sports was profound; he dedicated many hours as a Little League football coach, imparting valuable lessons and fostering teamwork among the young athletes he mentored. He also enjoyed golfing.
Dick is survived by his beloved sons, Richard (Jolin), Douglas (Beth), and Danny Cramb. He took immense pride in his grandchildren: Corey Cramb, Kenneth (Kate) Cramb, Matthew (Jesica) Cramb, and Jilian Cramb, who brought him boundless joy. His legacy extends to his great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Vada, Elizabeth, William, Lucas, Levi, and Asher, who will carry on his spirit in their lives.
Preceding him in death were his loving parents, Roscoe and Inez (Kuhn) Cramb, his devoted wife, Joan Cramb, and his cherished grandson, Richard D. Cramb III. Their memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew them.
Visitation for friends and family to celebrate Dick's remarkable life will take place at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A funeral service and veteran honors will commence that day at 2:00 PM. Pastor Michelle Forsyth and the Ogemaw County Veterans Alliance will officiate.
Interment will be at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI.

Dick's warmth and kindness touched the lives of many. His legacy, steeped in love for his family and commitment to his community, will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him. Rest in peace, dear Dick; you will be dearly missed but not forgotten.
