Robert August Sanders

Robert August Sanders, age 82, passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at MyMichigan Medical Center West Branch. He was born on March 12, 1941, in Millington, MI, to Raymond and Elsie (Summerfield) Sanders. Robert lived in West Branch for the past 32 years formerly of Millington.

On March 25, 1967, he married Jessie Cheek in Columbiaville, MI.

Robert had a fulfilling career as a carpenter, dedicating his life to the construction industry. He was known for his craftsmanship and attention to detail.

In his free time, Robert enjoyed carpentry work, camping, fishing, working on cars, and most importantly, spending time with his grandchildren. He cherished every moment he had with them.

Robert will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Jessie Sanders, his daughter Teresa (Jon) Scott, and his grandchildren Gabby, Taylor, Izzy, Christian, and Terra. He was also a loving great-grandfather to Olivia. Robert is survived by his sister Elsie Sanders, sisters-in-law Diane Sanders, Suzanne Sanders, and Ruby Sanders, and brother-in-law Mark Cheek. He also leaves behind numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, and nieces.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings Barbara, Larry, David, and Dick, and his grandson Justin.

A funeral service will be held to honor Robert's life at Edwards Community Church in West Branch on Friday, January 12, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. Visitation will start at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Jon Scott will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Edwards Township Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association in memory of Robert.
