Robert Dale Melvin

Robert Dale Melvin, age 87, passed away on Sunday, November 5, 2023, at The Villa at West Branch. He was born on September 1, 1936, in Detroit, MI to Harry and Sella (McMurry) Melvin. Robert grew up in Hilman and married his high school sweetheart, Evelyn Cordes. They later moved to Royal Oak before settling in West Branch in 1994.

Robert had a fulfilling career as an apprentice painter and dedicated 30 years of his life to General Motors before retiring. He was known for his hard work and commitment to his craft.

A devoted member of Calvary Baptist Church in West Branch, Robert found solace and community through his faith. He served as a Sunday school teacher, deacon, and choir member at the church. His dedication to his religious community was evident in his active participation.

Outside of work and church, Robert had a passion for hunting and fishing. He enjoyed spending time in nature, pursuing these hobbies that brought him joy and relaxation.

Robert will be deeply missed by his children, Tina (Dennis) Sisco, Tammy (Nelu) Stoian, Kim Blackett, and Robert (Mary) Melvin; grandchildren, David Hepler, Danielle Garmling, Steve Dungan, Kyle Sisco, Mitchel Dungan, Kory Sisco, Ashley Martin, and Chelsea Melvin; great-grandchildren, Isaac, Jacob, Lily, Brianna, Tyler, Liam, Mallery, and Maxwell; and his brother, Gerald Melvin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Evelyn, and his siblings, Keith Melvin, Deane Melvin, Donna Herrick, and Judy Smith.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 10, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church in West Branch. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Pastor Tom Teall will be officiating the service.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Ogemaw Commission on Aging in memory of Robert.
