Ronald Hughie Nickerson

Ronald Hughie Nickerson, known fondly as Buzz, was born on April 26, 1940, in Bay City, Michigan. He passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at The Pines in Gladwin, Michigan at the age of 85. A caring husband and father, Buzz dedicated himself to his family and community throughout his life. He lived in the Mio/Fairview, MI area for the past 29 years, formerly of Caro, MI.

Buzz graduated from Caro High School in 1959 and began a notable career with General Motors, where he worked for 32 years as a shipping and receiving clerk and fork truck driver. After his retirement from General Motors, he spent 20 years working at Fairview Hardware. His work ethic and dedication were admired by many.

In addition to his professional life, Buzz had a variety of hobbies and interests. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and landscaping. Buzz also had a creative side, often engaging in DIY projects. He loved to dance and cherished socializing with friends and family, making every moment spent together memorable.

For six months out of the year, Buzz embraced the warmth of Bradenton, Florida, where he continued to create lasting memories with his loved ones.

Buzz is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Joyce Nickerson; his sons, Rick (Maria) Nickerson and Tom (Rochelle) Nickerson; his cherished grandchildren, Jessica, Christian, Joshua, and Jacob; and his great-grandchildren, Jonah and Ayla. He is also survived by his brother, Don Nickerson, and his sister, Kay Seorum.

Buzz was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Margaret (McDonald) Nickerson, and his sister, Sue Grimes-Powell.

He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
