August 18, 1934 — June 21, 2023

Sally B. Weir passed away on Tuesday June 21, 2023, at the age of eighty-eight at her home at Clear Lake with her family at her side. She was born in Midland on August 18, 1934, to parents Thomas and Norine Bliss.

Sally cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, peacefully departed from this world, surrounded by her loving husband of 68 years and daughter Shannon. Her absence leaves a profound void, but her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love will forever remain in our hearts.

On June 4, 1955, she embarked on a beautiful journey of love, laughter, and cherished memories of when she married the love of her life, Captain Jack T. Weir USN (ret). Sally's first passion was travel, and she explored the world with enthusiasm. Accompanying her husband during his 30 years of Naval service. She traveled extensively to: Brazil, Columbia, Iceland, Spain, Italy, Norway, Germany, Japan, Austria, Hong Kong, Denmark, France, Thailand, Taiwan, Morocco, England, Philippines, Tunisia, Thailand, Netherlands, Mexico, Malta, Texas, California, Kansas, Rhode Island, Maine, Florida, Virginia, and Hawaii. Sally was active in the Naval Officers wives’ clubs. She was President of the club in Iceland. Sally was the manager of the Officers Flight Line gift club in Okinawa, which provided over $250,000 each year in scholarships to military dependents.

Sally was an avid reader, amassing a library of hundreds of books. She shared her books with anyone who asked. She loved to discuss the various adventures she experienced through her reading. Later in life when she could not physically read due to her failing eyesight, she turned to listening to books. She listened for hours in quiet solitude. Her thirst for knowledge and adventure was quenched through her love for reading, which she cherished dearly.

Sally leaves behind a legacy defined by love, compassion, and unwavering strength. Her family and friends will forever treasure her memory, as they were profoundly touched by her kindness and grace.

Sally is predeceased by her parents, her son Jeffrey, brothers Thomas and Robert Bliss. She is survived by her husband, son John (Anne) and daughter Shannon and her five grandchildren, Crystal, Kristen, Michelle, Jake, and Jordan, who will continue to carry her spirit forward. Sally's great-grandchildren, Austin, Aria, and Grayson, now join the circle of love she created.

Per Sally’s wishes cremation has occurred, and no funeral service will be held.
