Stuart Edwin Gibbs, age 84, passed away on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at The Villa in West Branch, MI. He was born on November 8, 1940, in Garden City, MI to Edwin and Muriel (Black) Gibbs.  

Stuart lived in Alger, MI for over 25 years, formerly of Livonia and Garden City. He grew up in Garden City and attended Garden City High School. 

On May 24, 1969, he married Bertha Patrick in Detroit, MI.

Stuart lived a life filled with passion and dedication.  He served his country proudly, having been drafted into the United States Army during the Vietnam War Era. His commitment to service reflected the values he held dear throughout his life. He was a member of the NRA, where he continued to engage with his love for firearms. Stuart had an avid interest in collecting guns and trains. He found joy in motorcycles and automobiles, often sharing these interests with friends and family. His hobbies were a true reflection of his adventurous spirit.

Stuart leaves behind a loving family. He is survived by his daughter Sharon (Harry) Bushway, as well as his grandchildren Todd (Toni), Rebecca (Donald), Alex (Liz), Jennifer, and Jason. He also cherished his role as a great-grandfather to Wyatt, Elise, Charlotte, Isabella, Sam, Lorelei, and Stella. Stuart is remembered by his sister-in-law Rita Gibbs and several nieces and nephews, who will carry his memory forward.

He was predeceased by his parents, as well as his beloved wife Bertha, who he missed dearly.

Stuart will be buried at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI on Friday, August 15, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. with military honors.

Stuart’s life was one of dedication to family and a pursuit of his interests, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
