Theresa Kay Korbijn, age 68, of St. Helen, Michigan, passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2026 at her home with her family by her side. She was born on July 31, 1957, in West Branch, MI to Richard and Hedwig (Krajewski) Sirmeyer. Theresa, a woman defined by her deep faith, lived a life marked by kindness, compassion, and steady love for the people and places that mattered most to her.
Theresa retired from Oakland County Friend of the Court in Reimbursement, where she served with dedication and responsibility. She was known for her strong work ethic and for the care she brought to every task she undertook. Even beyond her career, she remained someone others could count on, and she carried that same dependable spirit into every part of her life.
Family was at the center of Theresa's world, and she found joy in the simple moments spent together. She loved playing cards, Yahtzee, and games with her family, and she especially enjoyed the laughter and togetherness those times brought. She was also a gifted and thoughtful crafter who enjoyed making cards, quilting, and needle point. Her creativity showed in many ways, including the care she put into painting her yard ornaments and the special attention she gave to making Jayce's Halloween costumes, which became treasured memories for her family.
Theresa also found happiness in the quiet and meaningful pleasures of life. She enjoyed gardening, reading, baking, candy making, and photography. She loved fishing, hunting, and boat rides, and she appreciated the peace and beauty found in those moments. She was passionate in her following of the Lord, and her faith was an important part of who she was. Her life reflected a deep sense of compassion, and she was known for always taking care of everyone around her. She had so much love in her heart, and she shared it freely and generously with those she loved.
Theresa was the beloved wife of Daniel "Dutch" Korbijn, and together they shared a life built on companionship, family, and enduring commitment. She was a devoted mother to Jayce (Andrea) Ralph, Kristin (Gerald) Twigg, and Koreen (Earl) Brown, and she took great pride in the family she helped nurture. Her love extended warmly to her grandchildren, Kelly (Ty) Bernadyn, Julia (Brandon) Temple, Jonathan Stogdell, Lily Smith, Mason Ralph, Austin Ralph, and Ellery Ralph, as well as to her great-grandchildren, Brynnley and Brooklyn Temple. She is also lovingly remembered by her sister, Marieanne Buchanan, and by her faithful dog, Hannah, who was always close by her side.
She is preceded in death by her parents, sister, Ruth Mallet, and brother-in-law, Raymond Buchanan.
