Vernon J. "Vern" Greer

Vernon “Vern” J. Greer, age 80 of West Branch passed away Wednesday December 8, 2010 at his home. Vern had lived in West Branch since 1957, formerly of Gladwin. He was a farmer for most of his life. Vern is survived by his children, Karen Messer, Larry (Peggy) Greer and Tim (Jeanie) Greer all of West Branch, 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his brothers, John (Phyllis) Greer and Jerry Greer both of Gladwin, his sisters, Lois Presido, Irene Hetherington and Marion Nash all of Gladwin, Betty Stone of Lansing, Beverly Fisher of Florida and Ruth (Tom) Catlette of Pennsylania. He was preceded in death by his wife Thelma in January 2010, a daughter Kathy, 3 brothers and 1 sister. Visitation at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin on Friday, December 10, 2010 from 2-9 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Pastor Chad Deerman will officiate. Burial will take place at Ridge Cemetery in Gladwin on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. Memorial Contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice, West Branch.
