Veronica Elyse Curtis-Dennis

Veronica “Roni” Elyse Curtis, 61, passed away on Sunday, August 9th, 2026. She did so peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by loved ones. Born in Bangor, Maine, in 1964, Roni graduated from Bentley High School in 1983 and from St. Mary’s Catholic University in 1987. While in high school, she was a foreign exchange student in Norway, which she took great pride in.

She will be remembered for her steadfast love for her children, Ashley Jacobs in St. Helen, MI. and Megin O’Donnell in River Falls, WI. This love was expressed exponentially for her grandchildren, Michael O’Donnell (8), Gordon O’Donnell (6), Brendan O’Donnell (4), Harlan Jacobs (3), Atticus O’Donnell (1.5), and Esther Jacobs (who turns 1 at the end of this month) - all of whom she considered her greatest achievements in life.

She is also survived by her mother, Linda Curtis in St. Helen, MI; brother, Michael Curtis in Flint, MI; and sister, Angela Curtis in Spartanburg, SC; They will remember her love of exploration, willingness to show up for others, and excitement for watching the Detroit Lions.

She is preceded in death by her father, Gordon Curtis.

Though Roni struggled through painful conditions and ailments for much of her life, she always managed to fight through it to spend time with the people she loved. While her death was unexpected, her friends and family can find comfort in the fact that her pain is over, and she can take on a new, bold adventure.

Per her wishes, family and friends are invited to celebrate her life with a bonfire this Friday, August 14, 2026, at her home, 1426 Menona Ln., St. Helen, MI. 48656. Food will start at 6, and the event will begin at 7 — seating is limited, so attendees are encouraged to bring a chair.
